Notary and Certified Document Services.
At XK Family Law Solicitors Aberdeen, we provide affordable, fast and professional Notary Public services for individuals and businesses in Aberdeen and the surrounding area. Whether you need documents notarised for use in the UK or abroad, we can help.
We are Notaries registered with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), ensuring our notarised documents are accepted internationally.
What Does a Notary Public Do?
A Notary Public in Scotland is authorised to many things, including:
- Confirming the identity of a person signing a document (the Deponent) by checking their official photo ID.
- Witnessing and verifying that a Deponent’s signature is genuine.
- Ensuring that the person signing understands what they are signing.
- Confirming that a copy of a document is a true copy of the original.
- Administering Statutory Declarations.
- Applying their personal notary signature and seal (stamp) to all relevant pages.
Common Documents That May Need Notarisation
We notarise a wide range of documents, including:
- Affidavits (which we have drafted).
- Passport or driving licence copies.
- Consent letters for travel.
- International legal or property documents.
- Statutory Declarations (e.g. for name or gender change or to confirm employment history etc).
- Academic certificates and transcripts.
- Documents for use with foreign governments, embassies or overseas courts.
Our Notary Public Fees
We offer transparent pricing:
- £60.00 for a single notarised document up to 3 pages (simple notarisation), thereafter £10.00 per page.
- £40.00 per additional notarised document (up to three).
- Example: Notarisation of Five documents of 4 pages each
- Document 1 – £60.00 + £10.00 = £70.00
- Document 2 – £40.00 + 10.00 = £50.00
- Document 3 – £40.00 + 10.00 = £50.00
- Document 4 – £40.00 + 10.00 = £50.00
- Document 5 – £60.00 + 10.00 = £70.00 = Total cost £290.00.
- Example: Notarisation of Five documents of 4 pages each
- Statutory Declarations drafted and notarised (for Name/Gender Change or employment history etc): £180.00.
- Certifications – “I hereby certify this document to be a true copy of the original” – £60.00 for the first document, £30.00 per document thereafter.
In Scotland, a Statutory Declaration is used for name changes — not a Deed Poll (which is used in the separate jurisdiction of England and Wales).
